Winter Stillness

A winter landscape unfolds continuously around this compact rectangular pot.

Snow settles across layered mountains, bare trees, and quiet shorelines. A small red pavilion appears among the pale hills, while two distant figures introduce a subtle sense of scale and movement within the otherwise still scene.

The most distinctive quality of the pot lies in the contrast between its warm metallic ground and the raised white decoration. The snow appears to rest physically upon the surface, catching the light differently from each angle and giving the landscape a gentle sculptural depth. Fine dark lines define branches, rocks, and distant ridges without disturbing the restrained palette.

Because the final appearance depends on the thickness of the applied decoration, the movement of the glaze, and the conditions inside the kiln, the surface is difficult to reproduce exactly. Small variations in texture, tone, and the edges of the snowy relief give each firing its own character.
