Doraemon Starry Sky Bonsai Pot

A Familiar Figure Beneath a Moving Sky

This round bonsai pot rises from a narrow base into a gently flared rim, supported by three small feet. A warm gold coloured line follows the rim, giving the soft silhouette a clear and restrained finish.

The exterior was painted freely by hand rather than built from a fixed repeating pattern. Blue, white, grey, green, and yellow brushstrokes move continuously around the body, forming loose currents that suggest clouds, water, and a night sky in motion. During the painting process, the artist responded directly to the surface, allowing the direction, density, and overlap of each stroke to develop spontaneously.

A small Doraemon figure appears within this moving field of colour, becoming part of the wider composition rather than a separate decorative image. As the pot is turned, the painting changes gradually from concentrated spirals to quieter passages of colour.

Because much of the pattern was created through the painter’s immediate judgement and improvisation, its exact arrangement would be difficult to reproduce. Another pot may share the same subject or palette, but the movement of these particular brushstrokes belongs specifically to this piece.

The pale interior keeps the planting area visually calm, while the hand painted exterior brings a playful contemporary subject into a traditional ceramic form.
